A
class-action lawsuit was launched against acupuncturist Sandra Testaguzza who practiced at the Ruth Pettle
Wellness Centre in Toronto. The principle allegation in this
law suit is that Ms. Testaguzza failed to follow
proper sterilization procedures and as a result, triggered
an outbreak of mycobacterium abscessus.
The
representative plaintiff Shelia Rose is represented by a
group of law firms.
The class
action seeks general and punitive damages for injuries
suffered by those patients who actually contracted
mycobacterium abscessus and also for those patients who had
to undergo otherwise unnecessary testing.
