Ontario Legal Resources
  • Ontario Courts: Guide to the Ontario Courts - includes judgments, notices, practice directions, court addresses  and a description of the various Ontario Courts.
  • Ontario Statutes and Regulations: E-laws - this site provides access to the consolidated laws of Ontario updated to within 14 days. All current consolidated law, source law and annual consolidations are fully searchable.

On-line Decisions
  • Canadian Legal Information Institute: Canada's main source of free access to primary legal material. The site was created for the Federation of Law Societies of Canada by the University of Montreal's LexUM team at the Centre de recherche en droit public (Public Law Research Centre).
  • Legal Information Institute (U.S.): American sister site to the the Canadian Legal Information Institute. The site contains recent U.S. Decisions and a basic virtual legal library for U.S. Legal materials. It is maintained by Cornell university and updated at least annually.
On-line Research Services
  • Quicklaw: Quicklaw is Canada's leading provider of on-line legal research. Quicklaw offers access to over 1,450 separate databases. The service is subscription based. It has recently updated its antiquated interface and is providing a a web-style interface to its databases through its beta release of The QUICKLINK Browser. 
  • WestlaweCarswell: Comprehensive legislation, unique KeyCiteCanada citator with status flags, cutting edge analysis, expert insight and much more. A recently improved interface combines the best of both Westlaw and eCARSWELL.
Canadian Legislation
  • Federal: The Consolidated Statutes of Canada, Annual Statutes and Consolidated Regulations come from the Consolidated Statutes and Regulations of Canada official website maintained by the Department of Justice Canada.
  • Alberta: This site provides access to the current statues of Alberta - current usually to within one month or so.

  • British Columbia: This site provides access to the Statutes and Regulations of British Columbia current as of the latest printed consolidations. There is a pay service to access the most up to date information.
  • Manitoba: This site offers access to the province's laws and regulations. Once available only to subscribers, access to current statutes is now free of charge. Regulations are available for the first time.
  • New Brunswick: This site provides access to the current statues of New Brunswick - current usually to within one month or so.
  • Newfoundland & Labrador: This site allows you to view online the Statutes and Regulations of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Nova Scotia: This site provides access to a limited number of Nova Scotian statutes.
  • Prince Edward Island: This site provides access to all PEI statutes in PDF format.
  • Quebec: This site provides access to the laws of Quebec.
  • Saskatchewan: Freelaw is free access to up-to-date versions of all Government of Saskatchewan Acts and Regulations.
Canadian Courts
  • Supreme Court of Canada: full text of all cases from 1989 with a search index.
  • Federal Court of Canada: includes full text of cases from 1993 and case notes on recent, unreported cases with a search index.
  • Canadian Judicial Council: includes key information about the role and mandate of the Canadian Judicial Council. Also available are reference materials and tools, such as Model Jury Instructions, for lawyers and judges across Canada.
  • Alberta Courts: includes information about the Court of Appeal; the Court of Queen's Bench; Provincial Court and various court services, including the full text of recent decisions.

  • British Columbia Courts: includes decisions (from January 1996) and information for the Court of Appeal of B.C., Supreme Court of B.C. and information on the B.C. Superior Courts Judiciary.
  • Manitoba Courts: provides information about Manitoba's court system. It is also designed to assist members of the community, legal professionals, self-represented persons, and the media in accessing particular court information.
  • New Brunswick Courts: information about New Brunswick ’s court system.
  • Newfoundland Courts: information about Newfoundland ’s court system.
  • Nova Scotia Courts: includes information about the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, Provincial Court, Family Court, Bankruptcy Court and Probate Court, including the full text of most recent decisions.
  • Prince Edward Island Courts: designed to provide information about the work of the court system on PEI, including the Supreme Court and the Provincial Court.
  • Quebec Courts: includes information about the Court of Appeal of Quebec; the Superior Court of Quebec; Court of Quebec and the Human Rights Tribunal, including the full text of recent decisions.
  • Saskatchewan Courts: offers information about the Court of Appeal; Court of Queen's Bench and the Provincial Court. Full text decisions are maintained by the Law Society of Saskatchewan

  • Access to Justice Network: The Access to Justice Network (ACJNet) is an electronic community that brings together people, information, and educational resources on justice and legal issues of interest to Canadians. ACJNet is a project of the Legal Studies, Faculty of Extension, University of Alberta. It is supported by funding from the Alberta Law Foundation.

  • FindLaw - LawCrawler: headquartered in Palo Alto, California this organization hosts a comprehensive searchable legal mega-resource that includes a variety of useful features. Although US centric, FindLaw has a strong topical index of Internet resources in a variety of different legal subject areas, including Constitutional Law, CyberSpace Law, Environmental Law and Tax Law.
